People in this country need to wake up. Most people are in denial of the true problem. The point Wayne LaPierre said that should be stressed is "given our nation's refusal to create an active national database of the mentally ill" A large number of these murderers have documented mental illness and either are taking or quit taking medication for that illness. Don’t take my word for it, check it out. If these sick people watch the news to get their ideas then the next wave will be ....Individuals with bombs strapped to them. How do you stop someone who is determined to take as many people as possible in a Suicide. I would add this, all firearm owners (and I do mean ALL, law enforcement included) should be responsible for their firearms. If their firearms are accessible and used illegally, they should be held accountable.

I know I'll be yelled/laughed at for this but I don't believe that any amount of gun control is going to stop disgusting acts like last week's from happening. The determined will ALWAYS find a tool to execute their evil.
In my opinion the proper discussion we should be having is mental health treatment. Every mass shooter than has caused us to reexamine our definition of heinousness in recent history has had severe mental health issues. These issues were known about by therapists and family. We need to find a way to give real and meaningful mental health assistance to families without money without making them wards of the state. -
Nobody seems to think this kind of thing can happen to them until it happens to them.
And make no mistake, no single law will prevent something like this from happening again. So would you rather have the police minutes away, or seconds away? Whether they're posted at the school, or at a nearby police station, they're going to respond with force regardless. And even if the officer on the scene is unable to neutralize the suspect, he or she will preoccupy the suspect, taking to focus of the killer away from his/her intended targets. -
It seems to be a well disguised message of concern that really only serves the NRA agenda. I don't think this country is going to put up with the status quo on this issue anymore. The Constitution doesn't guarantee anyone's right to own these kind of weapons or arsenals like many people own. I understand the hunting and protection argument, but let's get real on the subject of weapons designed to kill many people quickly.

I vaguely remember a qoute I heard some time ago. It had something to do with cold dead hands. But seriously, alcohol and tobacco are far more deadly than firearms. We outlawed alcohol and got the mafia. What do you think is going to happen if you try to outlaw firearms?
